The covering feature of the upholstery prevents any dirt and dust from damaging the furniture underneath whereas the cushioning feature provides comfort. Apart from being used in houses for couches, beds and chairs even the seats in cars are upholstered. These upholstered cars seats provide the most essential comfort to the travellers and also play the role of a covering; thus covering the internal seat cushion. We cannot imagine sitting in a car fitted with wooden or plastic chairs and thus nicely cushioned and upholstered seats are provided in cars.

Upholstery basically incudes providing proper cushioning for any seat and at the same time providing some kind of a decorative cover for it. There are many different materials used for upholstering the seats. Car seats necessarily require upholstering as these need to be comfortable and at the same time should have some kind of a covering that looks good. There are four different things involved in upholstering any seat. These include the frame of the seat that is to be upholstered, spring system, cushioning and padding and some decorative covering such as printed leather or fabric.
